Can customers find you?#
Most people find a local business on Google, on Google Maps or, more and more, by asking an AI tool. If you don't show up there, even a beautiful website won't get seen.
Start with the basics. Say what you do and where you work in plain words on your homepage. Then set up your Google Business Profile and use the same name, address and phone number everywhere.
Do they understand what you do in five seconds?#
Visitors decide in a few seconds whether they're in the right place. The top of your homepage should say what you do, who it's for, and what to do next.
Skip the clever slogans. "Dog grooming in your town, book online" works harder than "Where tails wag".
Is it easy to get in touch or book?#
Someone who is ready to buy should never have to hunt for the next step. Every extra click is a chance for them to call someone else.
- Your phone number or a Book button at the top of every page.
- A short contact form that only asks for what you need.
- Your opening hours and where you work, easy to spot.
- A quick reply, so people don't move on to someone else.
Pick one main action, like Book a call or Get a quote. Use the same words for it on every page.
Does it work on a phone?#
Most of your visitors will arrive on a phone, often while they're out and about. If the text is tiny or the buttons are hard to tap, they'll leave.
Open your site on your own phone and use it like a customer would. Fix anything that feels slow or fiddly.
Do they trust you?#
People want to know you're real and that others have been happy with you. Real photos of you, your work and your place go a long way.
Show your reviews, a few examples of past work, and your name and face on the About page. Keep your hours up to date, because old details make people doubt the rest.
